The purpose of the National Credit Act is to promote a credit market in South Africa that is fair, transparent, accessible, responsible, competitive, sustainable, effective and protect consumers.

The National Credit Act imposes civil and criminal penalties, including fines and imprisonment, against anyone who knowingly and willfully obtains Confidential Information and/or Consumer Credit Information on a consumer from a Credit Bureau under false pretences and for a purpose not prescribed in the Act.

How do I obtain additional information?

Should you as a client / consumer wish to log a complaint, enquiry or request any additional information specifically in regards to the NCA this can be done via our web site or forward details to creditact@lnrm.co.za . You will be contacted directly in this regard via one of our agents.

The LexisNexis Risk Management representative will contact the primary credit bureau directly once the details have been logged on our internal enquires log. A unique reference number will be recorded and provided to you on request.

Queries pertaining to Free Credit Reports

Please Note: LexisNexis Risk Management do not provide free credit reports.

We only maintain the information displayed, to obtain a free credit report the primary credit bureaux (Transunion / Experian) will need to be contacted directly to provide you with a free credit report, in your birthday month.

Queries pertaining to logging a dispute in respect of results received

As a consumer you have the right to challenge information held by a credit bureau, the credit bureau in question, will not display that information until the challenge is resolved.

The investigation period from receipt of the query by the respective bureau is 20 days.

Upon expiry of the 20 day period of investigation your consumer’s credit information will be displayed. As far as the challenged information is concerned, if credible evidence was found during the 20 day period of investigation, it will be reported; if no credible evidence is found it will not be reported.

As a consumer you cannot be discriminated against, or penalized on the basis that, that you exercised, asserted or sought to uphold any right set out in the Act; therefore you cannot be declined credit, penalized or discriminated against, on the basis that you have lodged a dispute with a credit bureau or challenged information held by a credit bureau.

Should you have any queries regarding you credit profile, it is advised that you raise the dispute directly with the primary credit bureau concerned.

LexisNexis Risk Management retrieves all credit information displayed from the primary credit bureaux (Transunion / Experian), therefore should you have any disputes the repective bureau will need to be contacted directly will need to be contacted directly.
